U.S. Business Support for Ukraine
Looking for ways to assist? Learn how our business clients are responding to the current crisis.

United Ukraine Business Support

During this time of crisis, the U.S. business community is providing emergency aid and services to help the Ukrainian people. This engagement can take many forms, whether by donating funds or critical products, providing in-kind support to help the continued flow of commerce, or harnessing industry expertise and know-how to assist Ukraine in other ways.

ITA and its U.S. Commercial Service are working with our clients, interagency colleagues, and non-government organizations to facilitate the sharing of information to ensure these engagements reach their intended destinations.

Below, business representatives we’ve worked with share their innovative ideas for how to get involved.

Examples of U.S. Business Support for Ukraine

Uber, San Francisco, California

“The Commercial Service team at the Warsaw embassy has been an absolutely essential partner in Uber’s work to address the humanitarian crisis caused by the war in Ukraine. The team’s expert advice and active assistance has helped enormously as we try to navigate a complex and fast-evolving situation, allowing us to move with greater speed and at greater scale to support both Ukrainian refugees and the Polish communities who are so generously welcoming them.”

Baron Weather, Huntsville, Alabama

“As an Alabama-based company, we are proud to support the people and businesses of free and independent Ukraine. We had been actively working with Ukrainian counterparts in the field of hydrometeorology to upgrade their weather detection, display, and forecasting technology with applications for weather, public safety, and emergency services. In their time of need, we have provided the Hydrometeorological Service of Ukraine with current and forecast weather information services to aid their efforts. We look forward to a day when we can once again work with them on an upgrade to their in-country hydrometeorological services.”

— Bob Dreiswerd, President and CEO

Alphapointe, Kansas City, Missouri

“In the face of this humanitarian crisis, Alphapointe wanted to provide assistance to the people of Ukraine. As the tragic events in Ukraine unfolded, we realized that the medical devices we manufacture could help save lives if we could get them in the hands of the people who desperately need medical assistance. We are grateful to the U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration for providing a path for us to make that happen.”

— Reinhard Mabry, President and CEO

Pittsburgh Technology Council, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

“After the U.S. Commercial Service office in Pittsburgh notified us of the large-scale medical needs of the Ukraine people, we immediately went into action and partnered with Brother’s Brother Foundation Highmark and Allegheny Health Network. We have had such a tremendous response from the U.S. Businesses community and private citizens that we surpassed our $250K goal.”

Global Business Navigator Chatbot Beta

Welcome to the Global Business Navigator, an artificial intelligence (AI) Chatbot from the International Trade Administration (ITA). This tool, currently in beta version testing, is designed to provide general information on the exporting process and the resources available to assist new and experienced U.S. exporters. The Chatbot, developed using Microsoft’s Azure AI services, is trained on ITA’s export-related content and aims to quickly get users the information they need. The Chatbot is intended to make the benefits of exporting more accessible by understanding non-expert language, idiomatic expressions, and foreign languages.

Limitations

As a beta product, the Chatbot is currently being tested and its responses may occasionally produce inaccurate or incomplete information. The Chatbot is trained to decline out of scope or inappropriate requests. The Chatbot’s knowledge is limited to the public information on the Export Solutions web pages of Trade.gov, which covers a wide range of topics on exporting. While it cannot provide responses specific to a company’s product or a specific foreign market, its reference pages will guide you to other relevant government resources and market research. Always double-check the Chatbot’s responses using the provided references or by visiting the Export Solutions web pages on Trade.gov. Do not use its responses as legal or professional advice. Inaccurate advice from the Chatbot would not be a defense to violating any export rules or regulations.

Privacy

The Chatbot does not collect information about users and does not use the contents of users’ chat history to learn new information. All feedback is anonymous. Please do not enter personally identifiable information (PII), sensitive, or proprietary information into the Chatbot. Your conversations will not be connected to other interactions or accounts with ITA. Conversations with the Chatbot may be reviewed to help ITA improve the tool and address harmful, illegal, or otherwise inappropriate questions.

Translation

The Chatbot supports a wide range of languages. Because the Chatbot is trained in English and responses are translated, you should verify the translation. For example, the Chatbot may have difficulty with acronyms, abbreviations, and nuances in a language other than English.
